Project Overview
1. Category: Local Attractions (Natural and Man Made)
2. Description of Our Community: Changhua County is located in central part of proper region in Taiwan and the west of Bagua Mt. The terrains are mostly plains. The north is Changhua Plain and the south is Chuoshui River Plain. It is the county with the least square measure in Taiwan and the only with more than one million people in households registered. The north of Changhua County is Taichung Thermal Power Plant and the south is Mailiao Thermal Power Plant. Thus, air is often polluted. However, there are various tourist sites in Changhua County, such as Bagua Mt. Scenic Area, Wanggong Lighthouse or Lukang Old Street and snacks, such as famous meatball, steamed meat bun and oyster omelet. It is ideal for the tourists.
3. Summary of Our Project: Chang Bei Civil Sports Center is the first civil sports center in Changhua County and in central Taiwan. It was constructed by Changhua County government to reinforce national sports activities. It was launched in January 11, 2014 and accomplished in December 4, 2015 with trial operation. Chang Bei Civil Sports Center is one indoor sports place. It is based on six dimensions. There are various sports space and equipment, such as swimming pool, dance classroom, basketball court, etc. It provides the space for
swimming classes of schools in the neighborhood. Besides, indoor sports are not restricted by weather and air. They can be practiced at any time.
4. Our Computer and Internet Access: a. External network of the school was optical fiber line of 100Mb which connected with Chuanghua County Education Network.
b. Main line of internet bandwidth in school was 1Gb and branch was 100Mb.
c. Computer network devices at home were mostly based on broadband ADSL and community network.
d. In our school, there were four computer classrooms. During noon break and holidays, we collected and reorganized data in computer classrooms and Chang Bei Civil Sports Center, edited web page content and constructed website.
e. By Google cloud storage and the parents’ Line groups, we instantly shared the members’ journals, acquisition, photos and related data generalized.
5. Problems We Had to Overcome: as to finding the partners to participate in Cyberfair project, at the beginning, since the members were in five classes, we should manage the time, decide the category to sign up, construct conceptual framework, manage work division in execution of project, control the time and use technology media when producing web page and we encountered various obstacles. We thus learned to overcome these difficulties. The process is shown below:
(1) Time: we encountered difficulty when arranging common research time. Four members joined in activities of exchange between cities and countryside. Finally, we decided the collective learning time at noon break. However, during this time, other teams also occupied the internet.
(2) Category: as to signing up the project, when we decided to participate in the Cyberfair project of Changhua County this year, we intended to introduce Chang Bei Civil Sports Center. In terms of the category, since the members enjoyed sports and tourism, we thus decided to promote the center by tourism.
(3) Management of time: When we collected and searched for information during noon break, we tended to encounter the enormous workload on internet. There were numerous tasks in application system and it took time to successively fulfill the tasks. Besides, it was not easy for all members to arrange the time on holidays for the tasks.
(4) Design of structure: at the beginning, we brainstormed to develop the project by reports of different units. After constant discussion, we led to website structure. We then divided the work and began the collection of related information. We reviewed the seniors’ early works and studied factors of tourism resources and key points of marketing. While collecting information, it was difficult to result in common consensus regarding the selection of data since everyone had their own ideas. We recognized the obstacle to fulfill Cyberfair project. Fortunately, the director and teachers often encouraged and reminded us. We finally resulted in proper direction and concept and the project of Chang Bei Civil Sports Center.
(5) Problems to use various technologies and media: 698 Team includes elementary school Grade 5 and 6 students. Since Grade 3, we had learned in computer and information related courses and thus we possessed basic information operation competence. We conducted collective learning by shared space of Google cloud storage. Since we were young, the authority to use the mailbox was restricted and we encountered the difficulty to upload the information. Thus, some classmates classified and uploaded data collected and each research activity by USB and shared and exchanged the acquisition. Data uploading and generalization were not difficult. Nevertheless, we were not familiar with construction of web page and website and the obstacles were below: lack of concept of graphic design and competence to edit web page content. We sometimes argued with each other and it was hard time. However, we thus learned to tolerate and grow with each other.
6. Our Project Sound Bite: after data collection, visit and review with Chang Bei Civil Sports Center, we all intended to promote tourism and sports center in Changhua County to residents of Yuanlin City and Changhua County, people around Taiwan and even the world. In the process of Cyberfair project, as riding “Happiness Spinning Bike” of Chang Bei Civil Sports Center, we were sometimes rapid and sometimes stuck. Fortunately, we were all engaged in the tourism topic of our hometown. Besides, with the support and assistance of director, teachers and many seniors, 698 Team could join in courses in Chang Bei Civil Sports Center and used the equipment. By our reports and promotion, Chang Bei Civil Sports Center could be part of tourist resource for the residents and even stood out internationally. Serious 698 Team is the best!
